Algenol Biofuels has begun construction on its algae bio-refinery in Florida. The facility will use 3000 patented Photobioreactors that will use algae to convert carbon dioxide to ethanol. The Photobioreactor dubbed DIRECT TO ETHANOL can produce 6000 gallons of ethanol per acre per year, according to Algenol.

The estimated production capacity of the Bio-refinery is 100,000 gallons of ethanol per year and the project is expected to cost $50 million approximately.
