Geothermal Energy potential in Japan after Fukushima - 25 Jul 2011

Japan located on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” has a potential of nearly 33,600 MW of geothermal resources. A study by the environmental Ministry shows that there is a potential of 9,800 MW which can be developed. The possibility of utilizing the geothermal resource is about 500 MW by 2020, which is equal to half the capacity of a nuclear plant.
