The right angle for ur solar panel is latitude angle ... Just verify here for future references http://www.solartradingpost.com/solar-angle-calculators.html

    Dear sudhanmaddy,

Thanks for your reply but i need littile bit clarification.
For example, if we consider Capital of andhra pradesh- Hyderabad. Its latitude and longitude is 17.27N, 78.28E
by NASA meteorology, optimum angle is either 20,19,21 which is not lattitude angle ,given below
    http://eosweb.larc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/sse/grid.cgi?email=praveena4solar%40yahoo.com&step=2&lat=17.27&lon=78.28&num=259108&p=grid_id&p=ret_tlt0&p=ret_esh0&p=ret_psh0&p=mnavail1&sitelev=&veg=17&hgt= 100&submit=Submit

Let us choose one more example, a place nearer to equator,Ecuador capital Quito- lattitude 0.15S, longitude 78.35W
it is also showing optimum tilt angle as 15.5, 13.6,16.5 but not 0
    http://eosweb.larc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/sse/grid.cgi?email=praveena4solar%40yahoo.com&step=2&lat=0.15&lon=78.35&num=259091&p=grid_id&p=ret_tlt0&p=ret_esh0&p=ret_psh0&sitelev=&veg=17&hgt= 100&submit=Submit

    please clarify

Thanks for ur reply. As u rightly said that the optimum angle for Andhra Pradesh is 20,19,21 and it is not its latitude , but the optimum angle should be varied in summer and winter since winter receives leeast sunlight . Just check this out ......http://www.macslab.com/optsolar.html

Here i am talking about optimum FIXED Tilt angle which will constant from installation to its life time(25 to 30 years), not single axis tracking or any manual changes in the mounting structure position. as you can see average annual optimum angle given as average for yearly output 20,19,21 for monthly averaged ,minimum, maximum solar radiation.

Sitting on the equator with a solar system, angle of tilt is not a great problem as the hours of daylight to dark hours vary little over 365 days of the year.
Therefore the ouput of a solar system will remain reasonably constant subject to weather conditions.
Once you move North or South away from the equator the daylight to nightime ratio changes over the four seasons.
I live in Geelong , Victoria Australia which is 49 degrees South.
We build solar lighting and the optimum angle for mounting solar modules on solar lights is 55 degrees, because of the low trajectory the suns path across the northern sky on the shortest days in the Southern hemisphere Winter, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd June
We aim to maximise the power generated by the solar module to charge the batteries so that the light has five days autonomy on the shortest days of the year.
We do also manufacture single and double axis trackers that are used for commercial solar farms that we install here in Australia.
