Standardization of EV Technology and Associated Charging Infrastructure - CleanTick Challenge

In the current breed of fossil fuel powered vehicles, the refuelling mechanism is standardized. Thus the different makes/models of vehicles can be used at the same refuelling station. Standardization of EV technology helps promote the growth of recharging infrastructure, as a predefined set of rules has to be adhered to while opening up a new charging station, as this ensures that the same electric vehicle can be used in multiple locations (in different regions or different countries). How can such standardization be accelerated?
