Algae Based Smoke-treatment Of Smell From Restaurants And Food Processing Facilities

Brazil has a lot of restaurants specialized in barbecue. Most of them are located in heavilly popullated areas. The smoke generated in the process of burning vegetable coal to grill the meat, together with the fat burned when the meat is grilled generates a smelly smoke that bother neighborhood. We developed an algae based process to treat the smoke where algae in a photobioreactor use CO2 as carbon source. The project has very good results on laboratory simulating the conditions on the restaurant rooftop and now the project is in its pilot phase scale where two 500 liters photobioreactors are working to evaluate the efficiency on a real situation.

  • Video about the project with subtitles

I just put the subtitles in english of the video about this project. it is on youtube.
