About

I am a Chemist III and Product Applications manager at Hach Company.  I develop methods, mainly for Environmental Water Quality, which include nutrients in seawater.    In the past, I studied metal uptake by algal polysaccharides, algal pigments, and algal toxins (such as microcystin).  That entailed lots of Chemistry, which has served me well in this position.  At that time, one potential use for the growing algae was in sequestration of metals, and by removing biomass from eutrophic systems, the possibility of improving the health of waterbodies.

I am interested in
Combination of wastewater nutrient reduction as final treatment step with production of biomass (for Biogas via fermentation, or burned to fuel the plant); nutritional products that are produced as a by-product of algal fuel production; utilization of waste substrates in place of high price fertilizer in this industry.
